Behind the Scenes

Hey guys,

I really hope you haven't lost interest on my blog just yet considering that I barely update it. Upside is, I still do update it and I guess I always will no matter how long. And it is still the one site I consider the most personal of all my sites. Speaking of, I am currently in the process of making my very own website and business card! I am very excited for new things and projects to come and I cannot wait to share them all to you!

In fact, so much has happened lately! Regarding my personal and the business side of my life. And when I say so much, I don't mean the little stuffs. Besides having to let go of someone/something that was once so important in my life, having my first ever police call 911 style, I am also moving AGAIN to a new place here in Barcelona! It is my 6th apartment. It deserves to be bold because it is something very unexpected and the story as to how it all came about is well, f*cked up nasty. Well, I guess that is what Barcelona is about anyways (or life in general) so full of surprises! The best part is, it is always something I can happily store in my memory box and have the leisure to take it out anytime when I feel like sharing, writing, or filming it. Trust me, if anything, this month of May has far been the most interesting and crazy month of my year.

So for the meantime, and while I give myself this month to settle down to my new place (btw, I finally have my own "work/office space"!!!) I'd like to share to you a behind the scenes video of a recent tri-athlete shoot we did together with an amazing team. Enjoy!

The dream.

Last night was the last leg and the journey's end of everybody from the film industry (at least for this year) ---The Oscars. It was the moment everybody has been waiting for. The winners were announced and I couldn't agree more to every single choice. In fact, I think this is the best and most honest roster of winners since 3 years of Oscars. I've made it a tradition 3 years ago to always watch the show live via satellite even if it meant watching from 2am till 6am European time.

I am sure by now you have probably seen or at least read all the highlights from the show, including the red carpet coverage. So I am going to spare you with that. What I do want to share is, this not so little secret dream of mine ---to make it to the Oscars. If Pulitzer is to writers, Oscars is to filmmakers. It's the ultimate goal, the be-all and end-all. It could be too ambitious of a dream, but if you have to dream, then why not dream big. That way, you will never fall short.

In the end, winners are just like us. They go through a lot of struggles, but they believe in their dreams and in what they do, so "it came true" as I quote Anne Hathaway after receiving her award as best supporting actress. It took Ang Lee 6 years of hardship and unemployment before earning himself his 2nd best director award and Ben Affleck some series of embarrassing movie flops before finally finding his way and nails it. Which he says,

"It doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life, because that's gonna happen. All that matters is you gotta get up."

You don't have to know now how the universe is going to conspire to make things happen. You just have to believe that it will happen. So here is to a future of hard work, determination, and believing that dreams do come true. Cheers!

A day at the Park.

Great weather, good company, and a bottle of wine.

What I lack with words, i'll put into film. I'll capture moments as it is when words aren't enough to describe such.

I used to think that I would only want to focus on directing and no more. Fast forward to post-production, I will collaborate with a professional editor and put all my trust in him. What I did not realize is that by doing so, I might sacrifice my vision of the film. So I decided to stick my neck out and learn more about the craft of film editing including special effects. It doesn't mean in the future I will make a super woman out of myself and won't hire someone to edit my films. It means that by the moment I sit down with the editor, we both will be able to communicate well with each other because I took the chance to understand their craft.

Besides that editing is time consuming, It is actually very relaxing.

First photo is an impromptu shoot for a friend's project, and second one is my new place. I am just absolutely in love with my new room that every time I come home I pat myself for finding such a gem. But it still needs a lot of grooming and pimping, which is the fun part.

I know. I am absolutely terrible updating my blog for this month. Iv'e been too busy making changes in my life and welcoming new ones. For one, moving out and in to a new place. Also, I've been going around doing job interviews most especially this one that is related to film (I can't tell exactly what this project is yet). I think it is about time that I focus more on my field and as much as possible try not to settle for bar or hotel jobs; only if it's extra money. Besides working on the practical things, I've been pleasurably spending good time with old and new friends and making the most of every moment. I couldn't be more lucky to have the people in my life right now.
